Setelah sukses mengembangkan panser 6x6, BPPT bersama PT. Pindad mengembangkan panser amphibi 4x4 jenis angkut personil dengan mengakomodasi sistem suspensi independen yang dapat memberikan kenyamanan kepada penumpangnya. Tingkat kandungan lokal dari panser amphibi ini sudah lebih dari 60%. Di samping itu BPPT bersama PT. Pindad masih terus mengembangkan komponen-komponen lain yang akan meningkatkan kandungan lokal secara keseluruhan.

Pindad Jajaki Mesin Panser Dari Mercedes

Bandung (ANTARA News) - PT Pindad menjajaki penggunaan mesin dari pabrikan otomotif Jerman, Mercedes untuk mesin penggerak Panser 6x6 Anoa produksi BUMN strategis tersebut.

"Pindad akan menjajaki mesin dari Mercedes yang memiliki kapasitas power yang sama dengan mesin yang digunakan saat ini," kata Direktur Utama PT Pindad, Adik Aviantono di Bandung, Kamis.

Selama ini, panser Anoa produk PT Pindad menggunakan mesin dari pabrikan Renault Perancis. Menurut dia, mesin itu memiliki kapasitas 320 tenaga kuda (PH).

Panser tersebut, kata dia, bisa menggunakan mesin dari manapun dengan spesifikasi dan kapasitas 320 PH.

"Produsen mesin dalam negeri belum ada yang sampai 320 PH, sedangkan standard untuk panser adalah sebesar itu. Sehingga kami belum bisa menggunakan mesin produk dalam negeri," kata Adik.

Ia menyebutkan, mesin produk nasional saat ini baru dapat menghasilan 220 HP sehingga belum memenuhi spesifikasi untuk power kendaraan tempur seperti panser itu.

Meski masih ada komponen yang harus didatangkan dari luar negeri atau impor, namun penggunaan kandungan lokal panser Anoa produksi Pindad juga terus meningkatkan kandungan lokalnya dengan bersinergis dengan industri lokal.

Salah satunya plat baja kini sudah menggunakan produk baja PT Krakatau Steel Banten dengan spesifikasi yang standard kendaraan tempur. Sehingga tidak lagi harus mengimpor dari luar negeri.

"Kandungan lokal panser Anoa saat 6x6 Anoa saat ini sudah mencapai 53 persen, beberapa komponen masih impor seperti powerpack dan gearbox," kata Adik.

Ia menyebutkan, saat ini Pindad masih menyelesaikan panser pesanan Dephan yang akan diserahkan pada 2010 ini. Selain itu pihaknya juga terus mencari pasar dengan mengikuti tender di luar negeri, salah satunya di Malaysia.

"Saat ini kami sudah bisa head to head dengan produsen panser lainnya di dunia, meski demikian masih terkendala untuk pengadaan mesinnya yang saat ini masih harus import," kata Adik menambahkan.

Selain memroduksi panser, PT Pindad memproduksi amunisi kaliber besar dan kecil, senjata genggam, senjata laras panjang SS-1 dan SS-2, senjata sniper serta beberapa alutsista lainnya.

PT Pindad juga memproduksi komponen prasarana kereta api, perlengkapan kapal laut, sparepart berbagai mesin serta produksi tabung gas elpiji.(S033/A024)

First APC 8x8 from Ukraine to North Thai March

Thai purchase the 96 APC 8x8 vehicles from Ukraine by 3,898 million baht budget with ING V Engineering Company Limited manufacturer enterprise sector in Ukraine. Model BTR-3E 1 is an improvement model from BTR-70 Russia.

We want to use Germany engine because the use of military weapons up to 30-40 years and the last time MTU used in majority of ship tank" said Gen. Sub Phong.

Gen. Sub Phong said previous agreement that Germany's Deutz engines but not enough, must solve each new contract reason would be the German market with parts in commercialized. We would like to Deutz engine because the general sales if the engine of the United States need to be purchased.

"Now they try to make fast early. The previous year the car will be mailing all rubber tires, I confirm that the APC 8x8 very interesting. While this unit will have a shed out successfully, "said Gen. Sub Phong.

Conclude that it must wait for another chance, APC 8x8 from Ukraine will be stationed in Philadelphia, and first 12 cars in March will be delivered to the Army and completed 96 units at the end of this year or not.

KLS: Malaysian Army Chief General Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail Jamaluddin announced that the Joint Chiefs Committee has already agreed to equip all five cavalry and mechanized regiments with new type of 8x8 APC.



He said the acquisition program was already registered under the Tenth Plan.

He added Condors and Sibmas APC will reach its service life in near future, and it is not cost effective to refurbish those obsolete platforms anymore.



Apart from that, he said the Army is also planning to equip those 8x8 APC with long range Anti-Tank Missile missile.



The traditional local shipbuilder - BHIC, is also devoting itself in promoting 8x8 APC. BHIC is colloborating with Romanian ROMARM company to study the posibility of assembling Zimbru 2000 8x8 APC in Malaysia and supply to the Army.

Revolutionary CTAI Weapon System to Start Qualification

BOURGES, France - A revolutionary new weapon system for the British and French armies has been given a major boost with the signing on the 8th of February of an £11m contract with the French and UK ministries of defence.

Under the contract, CTA International, an Anglo-French joint venture between BAE Systems and Nexter Systems, will begin qualification in early 2011 of cannon and ammunition for the Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme (WCSP), the Scout reconnaissance vehicle for the British Army and the future recce vehicle for the French Army.

Qualification is a rigorous process designed to prove that a weapon system is safe, effective and reliable. Both the gun and ammunition will be subjected to freezing, baking, extremes of humidity and a series of "shake, rattle and roll" trials to demonstrate that they will operate under every foreseeable circumstance. While the system has been passed for manned firing and considerable data has already been collected, these trials will formally pass the system for use by the British and French armies.

While CTAI's 40mm Cased Telescoped Cannon and Ammunition (CTCA) was mandated for WCSP and the Scout vehicle by the UK Ministry of Defence in March 2008, the turrets and Scout chassis will be selected through competition.

The UK and French ministries of defence have already agreed a Government to Government Technical Arrangement for a jointly-funded qualification programme which will require some 15,000 rounds. The final ammunition requirements will be defined once the prime contractors are announced in the next few weeks.

The next step will be the negotiation for the series production of the CT cannon.

BAE Systems Global Combat Systems - Munitions (GCSM), under a licence granted by CTAI, recently submitted a proposal to UK MoD for the production of series ammunition through the existing MASS munitions supply contract for the UK MoD. A licence will also be granted to Nexter Munitions for the provision of series ammunition for the French DGA.

The 40mm CTCA system's ease of use, ability to fire accurately on the move, versatility and much-increased punch will give a major firepower boost to the British and French Armies.

The 40mm high explosive round has more than three times the explosive power of the 30mm Rarden currently fitted to Warrior and the Scimitar Vehicle which Scout will replace, while its armour-piercing projectile will penetrate more than 140mm of steel armour.

The weapon system's innovative design takes conventional cannon and ammunition technology but packages it in a novel space-saving way, by putting the projectile inside its case and packing the propellant around it - "cased telescoped".

This halves the length of the round and improves the volumetric efficiency by 30 percent for a given level of performance. The CT cannon occupy the space of a conventional 25mm weapon inside a turret while giving the performance of a 45-50mm system.

Ammunition is introduced to the gun, not by a conventional breach from the rear, but from a static ammunition feeder into a rotating breech via a hollow trunnion. This design allows the breech to be well forward of the crew, giving much better communications and "fightability" for vehicle crews.

The cylindrical ammunition is also much easier to stow and handle by automated systems. Reliability is increased by eliminating more than half a conventional cannon's most unreliable parts.

Russia Considering French Armoured Car Deal

PARIS, (Reuters) - Russia has entered informal talks to buy armoured amphibious vehicles from France, a defence firm said on Friday, just days after Paris announced it was ready to sell a warship to Moscow despite the concerns of NATO allies.

French company Panhard said it was discussing selling "less than a dozen" of the four-person amphibious personnel carriers (VBL), largely confirming an earlier report in Russia's Kommersant daily.

"These are just the first, informal contacts. There have not yet been any official contacts," said a company spokesman.

"The Russians just want to test them to see if the vehicle corresponds to their needs and eventually to buy more of them," he added.

The French army has around 1,600 VBLs in service and a further 700 have been sold to foreign states.

Plans by Paris to sell military equipment to Moscow have already raised concerns among its NATO allies Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, ex-Soviet republics which fear that any such deal could diminish their security.

Russia is in talks to buy a 21,300-tonne, Mistral class helicopter carrier from France to modernise hardware that was exposed as outdated during its five-day war against Georgia in 2008.

After months of debate, France announced last week that it was ready to go ahead with the sale, which would be Moscow's largest foreign military purchase.
The United States has said east European NATO allies and Georgia had good reason to be nervous about the warship sale.

A French official said there would be no transfers of technology if the Russians bought the Mistral or the VBLs.

"The VBL and (Mistral) are not primary combat vehicles, so there is no major security problem in terms of confidential technology data. However, these are defence contracts, so they are highly symbolic," he said, declining to be named.

Bushmaster Single Cab Utility Selected for Next Stage of Vehicles Program

Thales Australia's Bushmaster family of vehicles has received another boost, with the Single Cab Utility down-selected for the Department of Defence's LAND 121 Phase 3 program.

LAND 121 Phase 3 will replace a fleet of over 2,000 Australian Defence Force field vehicles and trailers with new vehicles procured across the program's Medium Heavy Capability component. Thales Australia's Bushmaster Single Cab Utility has been down-selected for the next stage of the tender evaluation process in the medium-weight category.

Chris Jenkins, Thales Australia's Managing Director, said the decision reflected the high level of industry capability, protected mobility vehicles expertise and customer knowledge available in Australia.

"The Bushmaster has been a very successful vehicle on operations, and we expect the Single Cab Utility to follow in this tradition. The successful development of the Single Cab Utility is a reflection on the extensive local expertise available to the ADF. We have worked closely with the customer for many years developing solutions that meet their unique operational requirements.

"This partnership has proven very successful, not only in terms of the creation of a sustainable local long-term relationship but also, most importantly, in protecting the lives of servicemen and women on operations."

The Single Cab Utility is a cab chassis 4 x 4 protected logistics vehicle. It can carry a 5,000 kg load on its 9.4m2 tray, while providing crew with the protection, mobility and combat flexibility to fulfil their mission in the most hostile environments.

The Single Cab Utility uses the same monocoque v-shaped hull as the combat-proven Bushmaster to provide protection against mine blast and IEDs. This technology is enhanced by upgradeable ballistic protection options for the crew cabin.

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - TNI Angkatan Darat membentuk tiga Batalyon Infanteri Mekanis di tiga komando daerah militer (kodam) untuk menghadapi ancaman sesuai perkembangan lingkungan strategis global yang makin dinamis dan beragam."

Selain disesuaikan dengan analisa ancaman dan perkembangan lingkungan strategis, pembentukan tiga batalyon infanteri mekanis di tingkat kewilayahan, juga disesuaikan dengan tuntutan kekuatan pokok minimum TNI-AD," kata Kepala Staf Angkatan Darat Jenderal TNI George Toisutta di Jakarta, Selasa.

Berbicara pada peresmian Batalyon Infanteri Mekanis 201/Jaya Yudha, George Toisutta mengatakan, pembentukan tiga batalyon infanteri mekanis itu merupakan bagian dari penataan organisasi Angkatan Darat menghadapi tuntutan dan kebutuhan organisasi, agar lebih efektif dan efisien dalam pelaksanaan tugasnya.
"Selain itu, mampu menjalankan fungsi pembinaan satuan bagi upaya pencapaian tugas Angkatan Darat secara optimal," katanya menambahkan.

Kasad menegaskan, perubahan organisasi Yonif itu telah melalui kajian secara seksama dan cermat selama dua tahun belakangan, diikuti dengan kegiatan uji teori berjenjang terhadap hasil penyusunan orgas Yonif Mekanis Kodam.

"Digelarnya Yonif dengan format organisasi Yonif Mekanis merupakan jawaban atas perkembangan global bidang militer yang berpengaruh terhadap strategi perang dan strategi militer di masa yang akan datang", tutur George. Sehingga, lanjut dia, setiap Kodam akan dilengkapi dengan satu Brigif dan perkuatannya.

Kasad menjelaskan, Satuan Brigif Kodam itu dikembangkan sesuai kondisi geografi daerah yang menjadi daerah operasi satuan-satuan tersebut, sehingga Yonif Kodam yang ada secara bertahap dilengkapi dengan Yonif Mekanis, khususnya satuan-satuan yang berlokasi di daerah perkotaan, guna menyesuaikan perkembangan strategi perang secara global.

Selain di Kodam Jaya, akan dibentuk batalyon serupa di wilayah Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih dan Kodam VI/ Tanjungpura.

Batalyon Infanteri Mekanis 201/Jaya Yudha, sebagai salah satu jajaran Brigif 1 Pengamanan Ibukota/Jaya Sakti dilengkapi personel yang profesional dan berklasifikasi sesuai bidangnya, dan materiil atau alat peralatan yang lebih, seperti kendaraan tempur panser Komando, panser Angkut Personel Sedang (APS) dan ambulans.

"Dengan demikian, Yonif Mekanis ini diharapkan memiliki kualitas yang lebih baik daripada Yonif sebelumnya," ujar George. (R018/A038)
